automotive tuning
Tuning can benefit just about every vehicle, from your daily run around, to agricultural vehicles and those in the motorsport scene.
Tuning or remapping is basically modifying your vehicle to improve the performance of the engine in accordance to the client’s needs; whether that be increasing performance for motorsports, an increase in BHP or Torque; a better handling of the engine for pulling loads (caravans, trailers, agricultural equipment), better driving economy or just to improve drivability for domestic and commuting.
The most important thing is that you the client knows what your target or end goal with your vehicle is. If you’re not sure, that’s no problem! Our team is on hand to talk to you about you and your vehicles specific needs, we’re always more than happy to discuss in detail how to get you to your goal and advise on the best choice of map to get there.
Here at Elite Performance tuning we don’t just deal with Stages of maps, we prefer to focus on customisation to suit you and your vehicle. Our bank of file writers have a wealth of knowledge and experience, and we use specific file writers to suit your needs. We are not a one map fits every vehicle! Customisation is key, and we pride ourselves on ensuring that your vehicle is exactly how you want it, which is why we encourage test drives, to check that your vehicle drives just how you desire it within the limitations of your vehicle. This may mean we need to work through different software variations to find what’s right for you.
Sometimes to get the best out of a vehicle we may advise to alter parts of your vehicle before getting the remap. This is to ensure the upmost safety for you and your vehicle! Hardware is just as important as the software in order to achieve the best results.
our Dyno
At our base in Dronfield we have a 2WD Dyno Dynamics dynamometer, basically a treadmill for vehicles for those new to the car scene. The Dynodynamics dyno uses an electromagnetic force to measure power, this makes the unit smaller and more portable.
It also enables the dyno to change loads, which is fantastic for load based tuning and limits the need for a “Road Tune” as you can simulate real life conditions on a dyno.
Our Dyno has a heavy-duty traction bar that straps directly to the vehicles chassis so as the vehicle tries to climb out of the rollers the traction bar pulls it harder in. It also has knurled rollers (square cut) that give more traction than a normal smooth type. It’s also hollow in design meaning we can perform an emergency stop if needed without the risk of a vehicle shooting across the garage.
When booking in for a Dyno remap we usually request that the vehicle is left with us for the day so we can ensure thorough testing and the map written for your vehicle can be tweaked as required by our fantastic map writers. We don’t just offer a one map fits all service, our maps can be custom written to suit your vehicle and your specific requirements! Our technicians strive for perfection and our goal is for you to fall in love with your vehicle all over again!
WHY Use A Dyno?
- Can be used to detect malfunctions that are hard to pin down on a road test
- Allows testing above legal speed limit, as well as simulating road conditions, load and constant speed with no road risks
- No risks to driving licence
- Reduced amount of external road testing
- Can test more accurately before and after remapping for BHP and Torque
- DynoDynamics Dyno providing the most accurate, reliable and repeatable data to its operator
- Can provide a print out of data for client before and after tuning
- Can test for 0-60, ¼ mile and max BHP are some of the tests that can measure a vehicles power and torque

Saving Fuel with an ECU Remap?
When we remap a vehicle, especially when fuel saving is the priority we focus on improving the low end torque in particular and widening the power-band as far as we can.
This increase in low end torque will mean less throttle pedal input is required to maintain cruising speeds, when fully laden or when on a gradient. It will also mean that the vehicle will be more comfortable in higher gears at slower speeds as well requiring fewer gear changes overall.
If you combine these factors with adjusting your driving style to make the most of the extra low end torque you will see an improvement in fuel consumption. This is most effective on turbo-diesel engines where the savings could be as much as 20%!
