Stainless Exhausts
Stainless steel exhausts aren’t just for aesthetics, they might be flashy and shiny, but can have practical benefits as well!
Stainless steel exhausts are durable due to the nature of the material, they’re as much of an investment as well as being an upgrade. Being rust and corrosion resistant they have a long lifespan and can often outlast the vehicle they belong to! The chromium in the stainless steel makes it resistant to corrosion.
The life of a stock exhaust varies on the vehicle type, driving load and environment. Corrosion on exhausts from aluminised steel can occur due to salt spread on the roads during wintery conditions. Cars regularly driven short journeys also have an increased risk of rust damage to factory fitted exhausts due to moisture forming via the condensed gases within the exhaust system not having time to fully dry out whilst driving.
Custom made In-house
All our custom exhausts here at Elite Performance Tuning are created from 316 grade stainless steel. We use this grade as:
- Remains stronger at elevated temperature
- Excellent weldability
- Increased resistance of pitting and cracking

Heat damage in exhausts
Typical exhausts are susceptible to overheating, especially after a remap with increased engine workload, upgrading from stock parts is recommended to get the best results from your vehicle. A stainless-steel exhaust can help increase performance, helping to cool down the gases and reduce chances of overheating.
Heat can eventually alter the colour of a stainless-steel exhaust, but a simple stainless-steel polish, a soft cloth and some elbow grease will revive the colour and bring the shine back to life.
Stainless steel exhausts can save you money during the life of your vehicle in repair and running costs, as well as the potential of increasing resale value if you decide to sell your vehicle.
